Geographic information

The Republic of Burundi is a country in Central Africa in the Great Lakes region. It is bordered by the Republic of Rwanda to the north, the United Republic of Tanzania to the southeast, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. Burundi is a small state with an area of ​​27,834 km2 and a population of about 13 million. The capital, Bujumbura, is located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.

Climate

Burundi enjoys a tropical climate with temperatures varying according to altitude. In the lowlands (Bujumbura) they reach a maximum of 23 degrees while at altitude they do not exceed 15⁰C. The dry season extends from June to September and the rest of the year is moderately humid.

 

 

Burundi has four seasons:

  • The short rainy season: September to mid-December
  • The short dry season: mid-December to mid-February
  • The long rainy season: mid-February to May
  • The long dry season: June to September
